The Earl of Ferrers
The Earl of Ferrers is by far the best pub in Streatham. The pub is a great place to go for a pint or a tasty and cheap bite to eat, it is hidden away on a little side street (Ellora Road) behind Streatham Rail Station.
Inside it may be fairly quiet most days or on Friday and Saturday night a little bit more lively, but I've always found a warm and friendly atmosphere in which you can dine on good homely food. I understand the food is quite often cooked by one of the landlords. There is often music on but not banging, usually something quite relaxed.
You can relax with a pint of real ale from a local brewery, they have one speciality ale each month. The vibe is good.
Our thanks to Mark for the review.
Will find: Good atmosphere, some new ales
Won't find: Expense or old booze hounds propping up the bar

The Bull
Next to Sainsbury’s at the bottom of the Common this Youngs pub has recently been refurbished. It’s deceptively large and is billing itself as a 'Burger Shack'.
There are quite a few tables and benches in an outside area where you can enjoy the sun.
Will find: Burgers
Wont find: Dingey dark corners

The Greyhound
On the corner of Greyhound Lane and Streatham High Road this large pub has high ceilings, big comfy chairs and a long bar. It claims to be the ‘largest venue in South London’. As well as the main bar are there is a well-kept and large beer garden, a conservatory area and a night club basement venue.
They offer satellite TV, a comedy night, live music and Salsa. You won’t find any ales on the pumps, this establishment provides lagers wines and spirits. They offer a ‘tandoori sizzler’ menu as well as normal pub grub and a roast dinner on Sundays.
It’s a friendly pub with a relaxing atmosphere during the day and a more vibrancy in the evenings.
Will find: Space, good beer garden
Wont find: Ales, a quiet Saturday night

The Hamlet
On the Streatham High Road just down from Streatham Hill station. The food is excellent but a little overpriced. The drinks aren’t cheap either but there are great cocktails and wines adding to the few beers on offer.
The bar staff are friendly and the atmosphere is dark but warm. There is a downstairs basement area with more seating making this small bar just big enough.
The décor is great with open brick, dark wooden floors and old vinal records on the ceiling in the basement! In their own words it is a feel of ‘vintage chic’. They play a blend of jazz, soul, funk – generally smooth vibes - and on Wednesday’s they have Salsa classes. Best visited for the range of cocktails on offer.
Will find: Good food, moody atmosphere
Wont find: Screens, much space

The Manor Arms
Just round the corner from St. Leonards Church this newly refurbished pub brings some gastro to Streatham. The atmosphere is sophisticated and classy...more to follow.

Taylors
On the Streatham High Road (Streatham Hill end) this pub is a break from some of the other chains. The food is great and the staff are great. Music plays from a laptop hooked up to the pub’s system, board games and books adorn the shelves and window sills, big squishy chairs and the odd cubby hole provide comfort and a decent place to be merry.
The atmosphere is traditional with dark wood panelling, tables and chairs. It should feel immediately friendly and welcoming – especially on a cold and wet day. There are clearly repeat customers keeping the bar propped up but there’s plenty of room to get a pint.
There is no beer garden or TV screens.
Will find: Board games, friendly staff
Wont find: Sports or sports wear
