Cinemas
The Odean cinema on the High road is the closest and is a good size. The Picturehouse in Clapham and the Ritzy cinema at Brixton are both easy to get too alternatives that offer a little bit more of a twist to the big cinema chains. And the Exhibit at Balham offers one off boutique style films. We're pretty spoilt for choice!
Streatham Odeon
With 8 screens there is plenty on. Not the nicest cinema around but you can trust Odeon to put on a good film with good screens and sound.
Not the best customer service or the cleanest cinema but the seats are comfortable. It's a shame that the management clearly struggle to get staff in that care.
It's well serviced by all the buses but from BC you might as well walk if you are able.
The Odeon film line is: 0871 22 44 007
Address: ODEON Streatham, 47-49 High Road, Streatham, London. SW16 1PW

Clapham Picturehouse
The Clapham Picturehouse is located just around the corner from Clapham Common tube station on Venn Street. This makes it pretty handy for the 417 bus which will take you door to door.
In the early 20th century the location was earmarked for The Coliseum, a magnificently designed 3000 seat cinema that would have had an entrance from the high street. The Picturehouse is somewhat more modest, with 4 screens. There is a recently renovated bar area with free wifi serving good wines and beers. It's very comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The chairs are comfy but the screens are a small. They have some interesting events on throughout the year.

Brixton's Ritzy Cinema
Right in the heart of Brixton this Edwardian building has always housed a cinema. With a rich history the Ritzy is one of South London's finest film venues. Renovated a number of times in its history it has now been restored in its original style to house 5 screens, a cafe and bar, and a music venue called, Upstairs.
The vibe is cool, the chairs are comfy and the staff are great. Again, as with the Clapham Picturehouse the screens are not the biggest but the Ritzy shows much more than the blockbusters from Hollywood to keep you going back again and again.

The Exhibit Cinema, Balham
Balham's Exhibit restaurant, bar and cinema is right next to the train and tube station. This 'boutique' cinema seats only 24 people on two seater leather sofas. The projection and sound kit is state of the art and the venue is fully sound proofed. Small, but perfectly formed.
They strongly advise to book ahead as capacity is so small.
The exhibit offers venue hire of all kinds, from an area in their bar to private dining facilities to full hire of the screen itself.
